The Element is a resource used by schools in the Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust and other schools across the Wirral that provides therapeutic, nurturing and academic support to young people from KS2 – KS4 for young people who may be struggling, for whatever reason, in a mainstream setting. We at The Element all pride ourselves on our relational practice and believe that a child’s start in life should not determine their future.

The induction meeting is our chance to get to know both you and your child and work out how we can best support them. Relationships are extremely important and play a massive part in all of our success stories, so we like to start working on them straight away!

We will ask you and your child questions that will help us get to know them and find out what their interests and skills are. We also try to discover areas where they may need some support. There are no trick questions!

his can vary depending on the need and age of your child. For KS2 – KS3 students, they usually attend for a 12 week period but KS4 can be longer.

Students are taught by staff who between them have many years of experience working with young people who may struggle in a mainstream setting. All of our students will have access to Emotional Literacy Support (ELS) sessions, well-being sessions, mental-health awareness, yoga as well as Rhythmic Movement Therapy.

The Element staff work really closely with families and school and so when a young person is ready to return, a bespoke reintegration plan is created with everyone having an input.

Students in our primary setting and in KS3 (Years 7 – 9) wear the uniform from their school. KS4 students (Years 10 – 11) wear; black jumper / cardigan, black skirt / trousers, white shirt / blouse, black or white socks / tights, black shoes.

All young people in KS4 will be entered for English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and cover other courses that will lead to qualifications. Some KS4 students will also have the opportunity to access a work related experience.
