The Element

Welcome to the Element

Empowering potential through a culture of inclusion, restorative practices, and unwavering support, we believe every young person’s future is not determined by their start in life but shaped by their resilience and limitless possibilities.

Our Ethos

We believe a child's start in life does not have to determine their future.

Continuing with Sir Ken Robinson’s legacy of Creativity and Innovation, we believe in providing every child the opportunity to Reflect, Restore and Re-energise whilst encouraging them to discover their element.

We are a team of like minded individuals with extensive experience in mainstream and alternative education. We firmly believe in a culture of inclusion placing restorative practices at the heart of everything we do. We understand the needs of vulnerable children and use kindness, understanding and support to elevate their self esteem, confidence and resilience; ensuring they reach their full potential

The Element Alternative Provision Team

Our Toolkits

We offer support for primary and secondary pupils. Our team have a wealth of experience in teaching, targeted interventions and implementing support for young people and their families. We use our skill set to target specific needs to help improve; attendance, learning and wellbeing to increase positive experiences, opportunities and outcomes.

Curriculum

Curriculum

We adopt an exciting, thematic approach for our learners with a focus on developing creative learning habits. We do this in partnership with the home and school to ensure that our students always feel part of their school community. Inspired by working with Hywel Roberts, our curriculum builds and improves confidence, resilience, communication, determination, motivation and problem-solving skills. Learners gain valuable experiences in the world of work through our growing community partnerships.

TOMs

TOMs

The Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs) is an outcome measure that allows our staff to identify the relative abilities and difficulties of a young person in the four domains of ‘impairment’, ‘activity’, ‘participation’ and ‘wellbeing’ in order to monitor the impact of our interventions over time.

RMT

RMT

We have staff trained to deliver Rhythmic Movement Therapy (RMT) which addresses the root cause of difficulties rather than creating strategies to deal with them. RMT supports maturity of the central nervous system with reflex integration and helps us to understand how the brain responds to stimuli. Everyone has challenges but they do not have to define us, nor do they have to remain challenges. When a young person has the foundations necessary to achieve, they will thrive and RMT can be instrumental in building these foundations.

Counselling

Counselling

We offer all young people talking therapy that involves sharing and discussing feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Sessions help young people make sense of what’s happening in their lives and find coping strategies when things get tough.

Speech And Language UK

Speech And Language UK

Our trained staff deliver the ‘Talk for Work’ programme as targeted intervention for young people in KS4. The programme prepares them for the world of work in an ever-changing society. They will practice communication skills that support employability such as; team working, time management and problem-solving.Young people complete workshops to enhance communication skills before delivering to an audience of local businesses.

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

We support the emotional needs of pupils and have developed resources which recognise that social, emotional and mental health underpins learning and pupil well-being. We know young people learn more effectively and are happier in school if their emotional needs are recognised and supported.

I’m made up that my son is at The Element.
In the past he’s struggled getting into school and
he’s getting loads of help now. The staff are so supportive and I love that they’re trying to get to know him and support his education

Curriculum building is not something that can be just taken off a shelf and presented to pupils, it is something that needs to be designed for the humans in the room – teachers, support staff, and children. The Element Team have embraced genuine creative thinking. They have professionally explored the possibilities a curriculum can have and how curriculum experience can be adventurous, enlightening, challenging and joyous.

The Element has changed our whole lives! You’re like the fairy godmothers but for school! The son we used to have, to the one we have now is completely different. His behaviour at home has improved no end, he is so calm, mature and able to have sensible conversations.
We can never thank you enough!
